Fertilizer Relay System

On November 15, 2023, on agweb.com, Farm Journal agronomist Missy Bauer (Ken Ferrie assistant) summarized their test plots relating to placing corn starter fertilizer at 2 positions at planting time. Their data concluded that by using a combination of in-furrow placement and 2x2 placement, a significant improvement of ROI could be seen in corn production.

Research by Growers Mineral, Corp. has shown a very similar response for corn production. Growers Mineral, Corp. has been discussing this approach for several seasons, and many Growers Mineral Solutions (GMS) customers have seen excellent results from this approach. Actually, the company has seen several benefits with this approach for different types of farming operations:

  1. Larger farming operations are able to move some foliar applied GMS to the 2x2 position to help with the labor of foliar spaying.

  2. Vegetable and fruit operations can apply more GMS up front in the growing season without concern about too much mineral around young plants or germinating seeds.

  3. Used equipment that may only have a 2x2 application approach with no in-furrow applicators are seeing nice responses to the 2x2 application of GMS at planting time when enough water is used to affect the microbiological life in the planting zone.

It is always very interesting for GMS sales representatives when the agricultural establishment is in agreement with Growers Mineral, Corp.
